Hierarchical note taking for developers.
Testbed Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (lucid)
Installation: Via dpkg
Version: 0.11-1
Description:
A hierarchical note taking application, featuring rich text and syntax highlighting, storing all the data (including images) in a single xml file with extension ".ctd"
Homepage: http://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/
CherryTree is a fine cross platform hierarchical note taking application, and like most of the others, allows rich text editing and insertion of images, tables, lists, and hyperlinks.
Althoght, it does not seem to be well-known (I could not find a tutorial; therefore I have written a very brief hands-on guideCherryTree Hands-On Guide) it would work great, even as an outliner. However, in my opinion, its unique and the most interesting feature, is syntax highlighting, and that is the reason I would recommend it to developers.
Nevertheless, it has some shortcomings, such as not having spell checking.
